THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
My friend was arrested in the airport the other day just for greeting his cousin.
He saw his cousin across the lobby, and yelled, "HI JACK!"
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind,
and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
The word "high" in verse 14 indicates that God's calling is both:
FROM a high point and TO a high point.
It is a calling to "press toward the mark."
That "mark" is "in Christ Jesus."
It is a calling which Christ has already attained for those who surrender to Him.
It is a goal which we ourselves cannot attain;
but to which we are called to "apprehend," or possess.
Paul himself confesses he has NOT "apprehended," or possessed the goal.
But, he keeps his FOCUS on STRIVING!
Christian friends, there are many irritations, aggravations, frustrations and even temptations that can "hijack" your focus!
There is but one way to plow a straight line in a field:
keep your focus on a point at the END.
There is but one way to live a life which glorifies Christ:
keep your focus on the END!
