THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

This program of daily devotions is designed to take you through the Bible in three years. It is our desire to help you gain a better general understanding of God's Word.

Please understand that in a study this brief, we will be concerned with only the major emphases and context of the Scriptures.

Each day a devotion for one or two chapters is posted, beginning with chapter one of Genesis and going through chapter twenty-two of Revelation. You are free to print each page as it appears. If you miss a day, you may contact us and request that devotion. Please send your request, along with $.50 (p&h) for each page to:

EXODUS
CHAPTER 11

1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether. 2 Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold. 3 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.

Moses is told that God will bring ONE MORE plague, and then
Pharoah will certainly let them go!
And God says for the people of Israel to "borrow" jewels of silver and gold
from their Egyptian neighbors.
The Egyptians (by now - because of the plagues) held the Israelites in
very high esteem. They GLADLY gave of their riches to these
Hebrew slaves.
NOTE: God will not let the laborer go without his hire!

4 And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: 5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. 6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more. 7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel. 8 And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.

Moses is relaying all this information to Pharoah before he leaves the
palace this last time. The "WORD" in verses 1-3 came to Moses before
he left the palace according to Pharoah's command (see 10:29 & ll:8).
Pharoah is told of the plague of death of the first-born (the TENTH and final plague).
But Pharoah will not believe it, and will not concede.
Pharoah is also told that Israel will be spared from this plague. Then,
Moses left the palace the Bible says, "..in a great anger."!
In another place in the Bible (Numbers 12:3), we are told that Moses was
the "meekest" man in ALL the earth! "Meek," here, means
self-discipline.
(((I must relate something personal here. For years now, when someone asks me
how I am doing, I respond, "Oh. I'm just meaner than ever."
The reason that I say that is because the word "mean" used to communicate
personal self-discipline. And, of course, when people ask me why I say
that, I tell them that's what the Bible says about MOSES. And then I refer
them to Numbers 12:3. It may not be totally accurate, but at least it
challenges them to LOOK in the Word!)))
Moses was not a man who was easily angered. But now he is VERY angry.
WHY?
Is there not a reason for righteous indignation when God is proven
and people are shown His mighty works, yet they will not surrender to Him?
The Bible has NEVER ONCE been proven false! In fact, all men have learned
through 3,000 plus years, is that archaeology has proven the Bible TRUE!
And when the Word of God is shared with others, and God's Holy Spirit used the
Word to convict and convince people, why will they NOT surrender?

9 And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt. 10 And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

THAT'S why! HARD HEARTS!
How many times can one "harden his heart," and refuse to believe God's salvation
before GOD HIMSELF "hardens" that person's heart so that he CANNOT
believe and receive?
I don't know the answer to that question. But I do know that it is possible.
Because the Bible shows it right here!
