This program of daily devotions is designed to take you through the Bible in three years. It is our desire to help you gain a better general understanding of God's Word.
Please understand that in a study this brief, we will be concerned with only the major emphases and context of the Scriptures.
Each day a devotion for one or two chapters is posted, beginning with chapter one of Genesis and going through chapter twenty-two of Revelation. You are free to print each page as it appears. If you miss a day, you may contact us and request that devotion. Please send your request, along with $.50 (p&h) for each page to:

EXODUS
CHAPTER 24
1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
Moses is now to bring Aaron and his sons near. They are to "come up" to worship.
Moses alone is to come before God and receive messages. This is a prophecy of Christ.
We can worship and draw near unto God, but only Christ can enter His presence.
3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.
When Moses presents this to the people, they agree to obey all that God says.
This would include ratifying the ten commandments, and accepting
all the remainder. In retrospect, we can see that the people could not really
live up to their bargain. Therefore, God's GRACE must provide continued
forgiveness, as well as Fatherly treatment which would from time to time bring His
children back in line with His commands.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD. 6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. 8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
To show the solemnity of the covenant, Moses orders sacrifices to be made on an altar
built to the glory of God. The blood of these sacrifices was sprinkled on the
people. See Hebrews 9:22. Jesus shed the blood of sacrifice for the Christian's
covenant with God (Romans 3:25, Ephesians 1:7). And we must come willingly before
Christ, begging forgiveness for our sins and receive the sprinkling of His blood
which washes us white as snow. God doesn't want to whitewash. God wants to
WASH WHITE.
9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: 10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. 11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
What did they see? "The God of Israel" (verse 10). Yet no description is given except
what was under His feet. Perhaps they are too frightened to look higher?
For similar descriptions see Ezekiel 1:26-28, Hebrews 1:3.
At least His grace was sufficient to not strike them (see Exodus 33:20).
12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. 13 And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God. 14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them. 15 And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.
God calls Moses out of the group and Moses and Joshua went higher up the mountain to
be with God. Why did God allow Joshua to come with Moses? (Joshua was to follow Moses
as the next leader of Israel.)
Instructions were left for decisions to be made by Aaron and Hur. Then a great cloud
covered the mountain to visibly show God's Holy Presence.
16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. 18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
The cloud covered the mountain six days before God called Moses and Joshua to come higher.
Then Moses and Joshua were in the upper mountain for 40 days and nights.
It is important for us to see that the WORD of God comes fromt the GLORY of God.
Just as the laws of God came from God's glory on the mountain to Moses, and
Please continue to follow along in Bible study with us.
The law is good and righteous and just. The Word of God
teaches us how to live properly in our relationship with God and with man.
It is equally important for us to see how the law was received. It was
received by the verbal, plenary inspiration of Almighty God
is given by inspiration of God...."
And 2Peter 1:21 says, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the
Holy Ghost."
then Moses spoke them to the people, the prophecy of God came from God's glory
to the prophets and they wrote them down.
Therefore the Word of God actually has God as its AUTHOR and men are only
scribes.
