THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

This program of daily devotions is designed to take you through the Bible in three years. It is our desire to help you gain a better general understanding of God's Word.

Please understand that in a study this brief, we will be concerned with only the major emphases and context of the Scriptures.

Each day a devotion for one or two chapters is posted, beginning with chapter one of Genesis and going through chapter twenty-two of Revelation. You are free to print each page as it appears. If you miss a day, you may contact us and request that devotion. Please send your request, along with $.50 (p&h) for each page to:

EXODUS
CHAPTER 27

1 And thou shalt make an altar of shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be three cubits. 2 And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass. 3 And thou shalt make his pans to receive his ashes, and his shovels, and his basons, and his fleshhooks, and his firepans: all the vessels thereof thou shalt make of brass. 4 And thou shalt make for it a grate of network of brass; and upon the net shalt thou make four brasen rings in the four corners thereof. 5 And thou shalt put it under the compass of the altar beneath, that the net may be even to the midst of the altar. 6 And thou shalt make staves for the altar, staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with brass. 7 And the staves shall be put into the rings, and the staves shall be upon the two sides of the altar, to bear it. 8 Hollow with boards shalt thou make it: as it was shewed thee in the mount, so shall they make it.

The description here is of the altar for burnt offerings. No one could come to
God without sacrifice. There is a terrible wrong being taught across
the world today. It is wrong to teach that someone can just "accept" Jesus and
be saved. NO ONE can come to Christ without having first committed "self-sacrifice!"
When we hear God's call to repent (or turn around), we must decide to give up
ourselves and begin to become what GOD wants.
The altar in the courtyard of the tabernacle was a prophecy that one day Christ would
make the ultimate sacrifice for us. When He died at Calvary, Jesus suffered the
fiery spiritual wrath of God for you and me.
While Jesus was bodily upon earth, He was on His way back to Glory. He was crucified,
placed in a tomb, resurrected, and ascended BACK to glory. The Bible is very clear
about this.
The Bible also records Jesus' words that invited people to FOLLOW Him to where He was
going - GLORY! These are those words:
"...If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take
up his cross daily, and follow me."

While it is true that God's Holy Spirit magnetizes us toward Christ. And while it is
true that God's Holy Word tells us the truth of Christ. And while it is true that God's
Holy Spirit seals us in Christ. It is also true that WITHOUT SURRENDER THERE IS NO
SALVATION!

9 And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle: for the south side southward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side: 10 And the twenty pillars thereof and their twenty sockets shall be of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets shall be of silver. 11 And likewise for the north side in length there shall be hangings of an hundred cubits long, and his twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of brass; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver. 12 And for the breadth of the court on the west side shall be hangings of fifty cubits: their pillars ten, and their sockets ten. 13 And the breadth of the court on the east side eastward shall be fifty cubits. 14 The hangings of one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their sockets three. 15 And on the other side shall be hangings fifteen cubits: their pillars three, and their sockets three. 16 And for the gate of the court shall be an hanging of twenty cubits, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework: and their pillars shall be four, and their sockets four. 17 All the pillars round about the court shall be filleted with silver; their hooks shall be of silver, and their sockets of brass. 18 The length of the court shall be an hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty every where, and the height five cubits of fine twined linen, and their sockets of brass. 19 All the vessels of the tabernacle in all the service thereof, and all the pins thereof, and all the pins of the court, shall be of brass.

The courtyard is a symbol of the church. God inhabits the praise of His people, and the people
of His church are testimonies to His cleansing power.
The "fine twined linen" in verse 9 is referred to in Revelation 19:8 as representing "the
righteousness of the saints."
We must remember that our righteousness comes only from God's indwelling presence.
The courtyard was 150 feet long by 75 feet wide, with a special gate on the front
or on the Eastern side. This court would hold only a few worshippers. But friends, it only
takes a FEW dedicated Christians who are diligently seeking and praising God to change
the direction of the world!

You can see that each pillar was outfitted with feet, hooks and bands which kept them
steady. As a saint of God, the Christian, is outfitted with everything he/she needs to be a
pillar in the house of God.
Notice that (vers 16) the gate of the court was made special. All who come to God may be
attracted by the linen and the pillars or the brass and the silver; but, they can only come
to God throught the GATE! Jesus said, "I am the door of
the sheep."
(John 10:7)

20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always. 21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

The lampstand, or candlestick (called Menorah) was to burn continually when the
tabernacle was set up. The light for the tabernacle came from this lamp. In the book of
Revelation, God tells us taht when we get to heaven, there will be no need for the sun or
the moon, because the light of JESUS will kight all that there is!!

HOWEVER, in this earthly habitation, it is imperative that the "priests" of the congregation
keep the "light" burning. It is imperative that the Word of God be continually expounded
and taught even today. That's because the Word of God is a "light" and a "lamp." (Ps. 119:105)

Jesus said, "..I am the light of the world..."(John 8:12)
Jesus is the TRUE light that illuminates and gives real understanding to life (John 1:9)
But Jesus also said to Christians who believed in Him, "Ye are the light
of the world."

Christians of today are the "priests" who must keep the light ever burning before the world!
We are to do that by constantly telling the story of Jesus, and "lifting" Him up before others.
