EXODUS
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
4 To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
5 And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.
6 And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
7 The tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the tabernacle,
8 And the table and his furniture, and the pure candlestick with all his furniture, and the altar of incense,
9 And the altar of burnt offering with all his furniture, and the laver and his foot,
10 And the cloths of service, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office,
11 And the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.
The Lord God Who commands our service is faithful to GIFT us for that service.
12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Just how important is it that the people of Israel "keep the Sabbath" day? Important
18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
How did the commandments get written in stone?
Pay close attention to the part about Jesus writing on the "ground". You might consider
There's been a lot of conjecture about WHAT Jesus wrote on the floor. Did He write

CHAPTER 31
Notice verse 3. Knowledge and understanding relate to the ability to receive information and
amass factual reasoning. But wisdom refers to how one USES the information gathered.
Almost everyone in the world has been given the gift of reasonably attaining and amassing factual
information.
However, only those who seek God receive the gift of wisdom (See James 1:15).
Though God "cries out" with wisdom (Proverbs 1:20), man must COME to God and "receive
the instruction of wisdom" (Proverbs 1:3) in order to find true wisdom.
Also, from these verses, we might see why God gives His wisdom.."that they may
make all I have commanded thee." (verse 6)
God gives His wisdom so that we can do His will.
Never has God commanded a thing done that He didn't also provide the wisdom to
perform the task. Never has God provided wisdom that it was not to be used!
enough for God to demand the death penalty when the Sabbath was NOT kept!
Why was it so important? "It is a sign between me and the children of Israel..."(verse 17).
The sign of a Jew to the world of his relationship with God then was keeping the Sabbath.
THAT'S why it was so important. It is a witness.
NOW. Let's apply this to the Christian Holy Day -- SUNDAY!
This verse has remarkable implications when we read the story of the woman caught in the act of
adultery in the eighth chapter of John.
Read the story here. --
John 8:3-8 says, "And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
WHERE Jesus was when He was approached by these Pharisees.
He was in the temple!! Verse two says, "..early in the morning He came again into the temple, and
all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them..."
The floor or "ground" in the temple was made of STONE!!!
the sins of those men? Did He write the commandment not to commit adultery? Did He
write the commandment not to falsely accuse a neighbor?
But I believe it is more important THAT Jesus wrote than WHAT He wrote!
He wrote in the STONE with His finger!
THINK about that!!
