TODAY'S SCRIPTURE STUDY

ISAIAH

CHAPTER 55

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

What a tremendous invitation from God!

Come to the "fountain" of water that makes clean your soul! Come to the "fountain" of water that fills your thirst for eternal life.

Come and receive, without having to purchase! Why waste your life and substance on things of worldliness when God is waiting to give the glories of heaven? Spend your time and resources pleasing Him, and your soul will "delight itself in fatness!"

Come and receive. For He will grant you an eternal covenant through Christ the Lord. It is an everlasting covenant, made through the will and blood of God!

4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. 5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.

Out of the "ivory towers" Christ was called. He came from glory in the person of a man to reveal the love and power of God so that we might understand.

He is THE "Witness" to the people!
He is the "Commander" of all who will receive Him.

All nations are called by Him. And none can come to the wonders of God except they come through Him. He is Christ. He is the "Holy One of Israel." He is the One and ONLY Who has "glorified God" perfectly in His person.

6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Oh! Seek Him NOW! TODAY is the day of salvation, and you may not have tomorrow! Yet, if you have the breath of life within you today, you have the power to CALL UPON Him Who can save you! He is NEAR! He is not a God far away. He is as close as your next breath! Use it to call upon Him NOW!

Turn away from unholiness. Turn TO His holiness. Trust Him. Surrender to Him. He is our God, He is our Savior. And He desires to "abundantly pardon" all your sin!

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God has thoughts that are eternally higher than ours! One only has to read the Bible to see that. His Word is quicker than a "two-edged sword" and digs deep into our souls telling us whether our thoughts are near to Him or far removed. He awakens us to our guilt. But He doesn't leave us there! He also tells us of His willingness to forgive and save. All of this is in His WORD!

Christ is the LIVING WORD. God in flesh, come to complete the plan of God's salvation for man. None of His works fail to perform the plan! And His life did not return to God void, but did fulfill the total plan of God for man's salvation. He offered His perfection upon the cross of Calvary in order to pay for our imperfection. He offered His holiness for our unholiness. And through His completion and victory, He offers us the WAY back to God.

12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

If you will come to Christ in surrender of who you are to being what He wants, then you will "go out with JOY!" You will be "led" with His peace. Every place you set your foot will be filled with joyful singing.

Even the "briars" of life will become as "myrtle trees" to your soul!

And you, yourself shall become a NAME for the LORD!! You will become a child of God through the power of Christ (John 1:12). And you will be an ETERNAL sign to earth and heaven that God is WITH you!

What a MARVELOUS invitation!
What a WONDERFUL God we have!
